10 Things to Think About Before Entering the Studio (for Drummers)

I've been working as a sound engineer/producer and drummer for ten years now. I want to share some insights with you guys from my experiences in the studio. These are my 10 tips for my fellow drummers who want to enter the studio and record their songs.

1. Bring more than one pair of sticks.
2. Bring good skins (if you're planning to use your own kit).
3. Eliminate pedal squeaking.
4. Have good quality cymbals if possible.
5. Tempomap your songs.
6. Have a demo of your song before entering the studio.
7. Prepare a backing track to play along to.
8. Tune the kit frequently.
9. Be open to ideas from other people.
10. DON'T think that they'll fix it in the mix.
