LINGCOD: Catch, Clean, n’ COOK! -Kayak Fishing- HOW TO CATCH LINGCOD and Rockfish

We are in Trinidad California. Swell was 4 feet and light wind. Lingcod and rockfish in the springtime can be pretty good, as you can see.

Kayaking is dangerous. Make sure to watch videos and be fully prepared to fall in if you go out there. I’m just beginning but I’ve been faced with many challenges so far.

Lingcod love to eat squid, octopus, and baitfish.
Good lures for lingcod include swimbaits, diamond jigs, herring, sardines, anchovies, shrimp flies and live rigged baitfish.

In this video I catch copper rockfish, which are common and good to eat. Black rockfish are good to eat and easy to catch. You can keep 3 blacks and a total of 10 rockfish.

Kayak rock fishing is common on the West Coast. Good areas to fish for rockfish and lingcod include San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Monterey bay, Humboldt Bay, Trinidad Bay, Central Coast California, Oregon(Coos bay, Bandon, Southern Oregon, Central Oregon, and into Washington and British Colombia. Puget sound can be good as well.
