Reading Railroad GP-7

The GP-7 was a general purpose engine designed for work in yards switching cars as well as pulling trains on the mainline. They were produced by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors from 1952 to 1953. They had 1500 horsepower, a tractive effort of 61,000 LBF, and an 800 gallon fuel capacity. Both freight and passenger versions were available. Multiple units could be coupled together and controlled by one crew. The crew had only side views of the front and back of the train.
