German minister says Tesla Giga Berlin aims to undercut Giga shanghai's construction time.

Tesla Giga Berlin could be built faster than an existing Gigafactory in China, said Minister of Economy, Labor and Energy of the State of Brandenburg Jörg Steinbach. "The goal at Tesla seems to be to undercut Shanghai Gigafactory’s construction time again," Steinbach told Welt am Sonntag.

"According to my observation, this could very well succeed," Steinbach continued. Tesla built Giga Shanghai in just 11 months. The company gained approval for foundation work in Grünheide in Brandenburg at the end of May, and the construction could already be completed by April. According to the currently unveiled plan, Tesla is aiming to start production from mid-2021.

A faster build pace of Tesla Giga Berlin is possible due to the use of prefabricated parts during construction. A few days ago, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that Giga Berlin will be built at incredible speed, noting that the prefabricated construction method in Germany is extremely impressive.

Recent drone videos and mages of Giga Berlin from Torque News local friends depict stunning progress on the construction site. Tesla Straße, the street on which Giga Berlin will be located, is being actively prepared. Building materials are now being delivered to the site more frequently than before. The installation of walls and a roof on the paint shop continues with increasingly more elements.
