Australian SAS - Inception, combat history and VC recipients.
The Australian SAS was originally developed upon the British model. It was established to fight outside the traditional military structure. Military conflicts were changing especially after the Second World War. No longer would battles be fought primarily in large structed battle, the face of battle was changing. The SAS was established to adapt to these changes, as they focused upon covert operations and guerilla tactics.
