Scouting and to check out the accessibity of the new UNIplex Arena. What an awesome facility. From what I saw and show in the video this rink is an all inclusive accessible rink. Starting from outside the positioning, location of the wheelchair parking, washrooms, dressing rooms, access out to the skating surface, The accessibility on and off the ice, to and from player benches. It's an awesome awesome arena. Well and a hats off to the town of Dieppe!

The UNIplex, located in downtown Dieppe, NB brings together various functions aimed at providing services to the entire community, regardless of the age of the users.

The City of Dieppe has officially opened its new multi-purpose arena January 13, 2021.

The nearly $32-million dollar UNIplex on College Street features two ice surfaces, walking track, community kitchen, greenhouse and meeting rooms.

Dieppe mayor Yvon Lapierre believes the facility has a lot to offer for everyone.

“We’re very proud to provide a facility devoted to health, wellness and physical activity for residents of all ages. Dieppe has grown phenomenally in the past few years and the demand for ice time greatly exceeded what was available. This project will energize community life and public well-being, and it also has the potential to stimulate development in our downtown and to be a source of major economic spinoffs.”

The green space next to the UNIplex will allow for events such as concerts with room for up to 25,000 people.

The older Centenaire Arena, which was nearby, was demolished in the fall.

The official opening was streamed on the City of Dieppe’s YouTube channel and Facebook page and featured a virtual tour along with greetings from various federal and provincial officials.

The complex was funded by the provincial government ($7.25 million), the federal government ($9.58 million), the City of Dieppe ($10.57 million) and the community through a fundraising campaign ($4.25 million).

UNI Financial Cooperation paid $1 million for the naming rights of the new facility in 2018.

About me

Twenty three years ago I suffered a spinal cord injury on a cold dark November night. It was diagnosed I had a T-12 incomplete compressional fracture. Since day one of my accident I have had and continue to have an enormous amount of support from my family, friends and community. Once becoming completely independent, bound to a wheelchair I always enjoyed giving back. Whether it was visiting schools, community organizations public speaking, demonstrating sports, visiting newly injured spinal cord patients, helping with non-profit organizations helping people is what I love to do. That is why I decided to start ParaLife TV. In today's world as we all know public gatherings, in my neck of the woods anyway have been basically shut down. ParaLife TV is a way for me to continue to help. Through YouTube I am able show people day to day experiences, how I have adapted to life in a wheelchair and share what our community has to offer.
