'Top of the ticket': Michelle Obama a possible contender for the US presidency
According to some analysts, Michelle Obama is a possible contender for the US presidency, Sky News host James Morrow says.
The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton wrote this week that the former first lady of the United States now has a “better shot” at winning the 2024 presidential election than Republican hopeful Ron DeSantis, who has been campaigning for five months.
“Who could replace Joe Biden if he decides not to run again? Well, there’s been a lot of talk about California Governor Gavin Newsom, but what about – hold on to your hats, folks – Michelle Obama?” Mr Morrow said.
Analysts Creighton spoke to believe Michelle really is a possibility – primarily because she is a known quantity who could step in and persuade voters to support the Democrats if they had concerns about Joe Biden’s health.
“Given the left’s focus on identity politics, having Michelle Obama lead the ticket might make it easier to relegate Kamala Harris to a less prominent political role.”
