Claude's new Excel feature caught its own mistakes and fixed them live

Claude in Excel is Anthropic's new add-in running Opus 4.5 — their best model for spreadsheets and financial tasks. I installed it, gave it a 15,000-row sales dataset, and one prompt: build me an executive dashboard.

What happened next is genuinely impressive.

Claude chunked the data, built KPI cards, created charts, added clickable citations linking the chat to specific cells — and when it hit an error midway through, it caught and fixed it without any intervention.

This isn't assistive AI. This is agentic AI in action.
