How I fixed 48 channel dmx light controller after water damage
Long story short, after accident of roof leakage I was asked if I can look into the dmx light controller, in my case 48 channel one.
To be honest I even never had opened one, so after I opened it, it looked like it has no water damage at all and the fuse seemed all right, so I closed it again and tried to work with it many many times, but it didnt help at all.
In the beginning it didnt work at all, after a day it started to kind a work, but with some problems, which looked more like software issue than hardware, e.g. if you are using scene mode, all the channels was full on all the time, so it was rather sad, since it is is very important page + blackout button just didn't work at all, it was just blinking, but letting to use all the channels any way, so clearly something seemed wrong.
SO I opened the controller again and this time I was looking for internal battery and YES, it was working and I had an idea from good old times, when people used to prank other by setting passwords on your OS bios and the way how you could pass the passwords was by deleting, be removing the battery, so the system resets everything so I was hoping it kind a could work here, and yes, it actually fixed the problem!
Before that I suggest you to open other side as well, because if you have had some water damage, then moist wont dry out that easy from layer between sticks and scheme, I actually opened that side and there was a lot of moisture on the micro scheme so I dried it good as well, but problem clearly were caused by software issue what sometimes can be solved by disconnecting inner battery! :)
I don't say that this will fix your problem, e.g. in more sever case probably you will have some hardware issues, but in my case it fixed the problem, so it is worth to try this out, before you spend extra money on thing what does not need much skill, just a bit of courage to open something you probably have never opened :)
