This Beautiful Mess: Nine Marks of an Unhealthy Church

There is an oft-repeated misconception that the Bible is outdated and unable to speak into our current situation. But the fast growing, financially burgeoning, sexually polymorphous, pluralistic and spiritually experimental port city of Corinth is like looking into a mirror for Seattleites.
In his first letter to the church at Corinth the Apostle Paul takes an honest, gut-wrenching, hopeful, provocative and indispensably timely look at many of the same problems and controversies we face today. These issues include church divisions, prideful self-assertion, spiritual arrogance, jealousy, in-fighting, church discipline, lawsuits in the church, sexual identity, promiscuity, divorce, celibacy, gender roles, idolatry, the scandal of the cross, speaking in tongues, end times controversies, denial of Jesus’ resurrection, celebrity pastors and theological bullying.
Like Paul, we are excited to approach these issues in love without compromising truth in our series titled, "This Beautiful Mess."
