World Cup fever in Peru unites the country

It hasn’t been since 1982 that Peru’s national team has played in the World Cup. Now that the moment is here, football fans have become super fans. And they’re going over-the-top in showcasing their excitement.

The euphoria of loyal fans has led to retail madness as sales of football jerseys and wide-screen TV's have hit record levels. The big game also has some Peruvians - who have never even left the country – spending thousands of dollars to travel to Russia to see the 2018 World Cup.

Correspondent Dan Collyns reports from Lima on Peru’s football fever.
