3x3 Fewest Moves: Advanced Insertions (rNISS) | FMC
You can use rNISS to avoid insertion stickers, BUT that's not the main use:
► Here's a 27 I did yesterday using rNISS:
Scramble: R' U' F R2 D2 B' R2 F D2 B L2 F2 L2 U2 R B' L' U2 L' B2 D F' L R' U' F
Skeleton: R @ B L' F U2 D' B' // 7 moves to 3E7C
I stopped the skeleton here because way too much was already solved. I found a similar (and shorter) skeleton where 2 edges were swapped only, but I find 3E is usually easier to deal with.
I wanted to solve all the edges, but potentially also move some corners into place if I could, since 7C is a bit rough. So I tried using rNISS at the "@" and also one move before it.
@ = B' L2 F L F' L B // Fat lefty antisune, cancels 1
After trying many OLLs, this solves 3 edges and 2 corners, which I would not have been able to spot without rNISS.
Now I have a 5 corner skeleton with 2 twisted corners, which requires 3 more commutators to solve. In the end, it was 27 moves (13 + 8-5 + 8-3 + 8-2). Optimal was 26.
► BONUS EXAMPLE:
Scramble: R' U' F L' U2 L2 U' L2 R2 D R2 F2 R2 U' R2 U' L' R U' B' L D L2 F R' U' F
Skeleton: D' @ B' U2 B2 L' F2 U' F2 U' B' U2 B U2 // 13 to 5E3C (but twisted and flipped stuff, so it's pretty bad)
@ = F L U L' U' F' L' // 20 moves to 3E3C (just 3-cycles, so this is good. Found using rNISS)
Found a 10-4 insertion for edges, and 8-4 insertion for corners for 30 moves total. Optimal was 29.
