⭐Anthony Ryan is a Scottish author who was born in 1970, though he spent most of his working life in London.
Before becoming a New York Times best-selling author Ryan was a Civil Servant.

He is perhaps best known for his 🐦‍⬛Raven Shadow trilogy. The first book in this series is called 🔴Blood Song 🎵, which refers to the supernatural battle insight of one of the characters.
The novel first seems to have been first published in
🔴 May 2012. The main protagonist of the series is the legendary warrior ⭐Valin al Sorna, a conflicted warrior who struggles to retain his humanity 🩸amidst an ocean of carnage, and when forced to do the bidding of 👑 Kings.

He is also known for the sci-fi series 🔵Slab City Blues, which was first published in April 2011.
Ryan has also published another fantasy series call
🐉Dracoonis Memoria, which hit shelves in 🦀 July 2016.

Pariah is The first novel in he is covenant of Steel series was published in 🔴August of 2021.

🪧Plot:

The 📖 book is a character driven revenge story.

The title of the novel comes from a conversation the main character Elwyn due to a conversation he has with a 🟠 Cateith Spellcaster nicknamed the Sack Witch.
The novel story takes place in a 👑feudal Kingdom call Albamine

The main character 🎭Elwyn is born in a house of
💋ill repute, but is thrown out.

After being 😢 abandoned the young Elwyn is adopted by the outlaw chief 🎭Diaken Skarl.
They reside in the Shireen 🌳 forest.

Once Daiken's band of thieves is captured buy a character called ⛓️🎭The Chain Man, who claims to be able to talk to spirits. The chain man says he was advised of Elwyn's location by the malicious spirit of 🟠🎭Hoster, another outlaw that Elwyn had killed earlier. Elwyn is thrown into a 🏰 prison where the inmates are used to mine⛏️.

While in the pit mine Elwyn need to religious figure
✝️🎭Ascendant Siolder, an 👵elderly woman who teaches the young outlaw to read and write.
Siolder later uses her congregants to facilitate the escape of Elwyn and a few other inmates, but allows herself to be deliberately 💀martyred.

After the 🏃‍♀️escape Elwyn his friend Toria and the hulking Brewer/Carver escape they seek ⛪ sanctuary in a 😡strict religious community that exists relatively near the prison.

From there Elwin and his group are recruited by Evelyn Cauliaine into a group of 🪖soldiers fighting on behalf of the church.
💰Caulaine a noble woman.
Her actions are motivated by 👻👀supernatural visions she sees. These quasi divine trances impart to the woman that if she does not act a god of
😈darkness called the Malachite, presumably a reference to some old testament scripture by the author, will triumph.
It is unclear whether these visions come directly from the Malachite itself 😲.

While in evelyn's military company l Elwyn is trained in how to use a sword by a young 🗡️Knight Wilhelm Dawnmal. He was fighting for a false King that was attempting to usurp the crown 👑.

Evelyn Corlaine and her 🪖military detachment more then sent to a ⛵ port town to protect it from an
🦹Oscalion invasion, owing to 🤫subdifuge and treachery.
Evelyn fails to hold the 🏘️town.
She is also previously 🤕injured, while the group are making this strategic retreat.
The enemy that struck her down was a 🐦‍⬛Tiewald priest of the 👸sister Queens, who rule Oscalia.

Elwyn is able to save her life by relying on the
🔮heathen sorcery of the sack whitch.
