Why I don’t use general anesthesia like most surgeons

One of the biggest differences in my anesthesia philosophy?

I avoid opioids and benzodiazepines during surgery whenever possible.

Why?

Because both can significantly affect the brain and nervous system after surgery.

Benzodiazepines are associated with:
🧠 Delirium
🧠 Cognitive changes
🧠 Postoperative brain fog

And opioids can contribute to:
🔥 Neuroinflammation
😵 Mental fog
⚡ Slower recovery

This is why my anesthesia protocols focus heavily on:
Neuroprotection
Recovery clarity
Long-term cognitive health

Especially for elective facial surgery.

Protecting the brain matters.

What questions do you have about my anesthesia approach?
