AI for OCT scan interpretation

This video shows how to get started on the Altris AI platform. If you need a demo, please book it:

Welcome to the Altris AI platform, Artificial Intelligence-powered, cloud-based software for OCT scan interpretation created for the support of Eye Care Practitioners with diagnostic decision-making. Altris AI is CE marked, fully GDPR and HIPPA compliant. Moreover, Altris AI received FDA clearance and ISO 13485 certification.

Before we create an account together, let me show you what you get once you register.
The first main feature is - AI Severity Detection. Once you upload the OCT examination to the platform, the scans are classified based on the degree of pathology found. So, the Al algorithm differentiates between non-pathological scans (green) and pathological (yellow and red), saving you time and helping you to pay attention only to severe scans.

Next is Retina layer thickness - Altris AI analyzes the thickness of each retina layer or several layers combined.

Moreover, Altris AI segments 10 retina layers and you can easily explore each one of them.

Another beneficial feature of the platform is AI Pathologies Detection, which will help you to define more than 70+ retina pathologies and pathological scans. Here we see how the system detects wet AMD.
We see a number of pathological signs detected on this scan, such as
- Diffuse edema
- Ellipsoid zone disruption
- Fibrovascular RPE detachment
- Intraretinal cystoid fluid
- RPE disruption
- Subretinal hyperreflective material (SHRM)
Altris AI defines this as Wet AMD with Choroidal neovascularization.

Moreover, Comparison and Progression analysis are available for you, as well as Linear Measurements of detected biomarkers and other helpful functionality.

Okay, now let's create an account on the platform together!

You can register on the platform from the Altris AI website. Press the "Register" button. You are being redirected to the Altris AI web platform. If you are a first-time user you will have to Create an account. You can also sign up with Google credentials. Choose your professional status from the drop-down menu, and the country, where you are based. Confirm your agreement with Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. To finalize the registration, press the "Create an account" button. Perfect, congratulations! Now you have your account on the Altris AI platform. Let's get started!

You can take a quick tour of the platform and try to upload the test file that we provided. I will skip these steps. Now we would need to upload the OCT examination. Altris AI works with any macula OCT scan in DICOM and non-DICOM formats (images) like jpg, png, bmp, and tiff.
Dicom is a standard for exchanging medical images Dicom and information. file contains patient information, study, series, acquisition parameters, etc. Altris AI strongly recommends using DICOM files, as it saves time when entering patient and examination details since this information can be pulled out automatically. Moreover, many features are only available, when using DICOM, such as: retina layers thickness, linear measurements, and area and volume calculations.

So, how to export the Dicom file from your OCT and then upload it to the platform?
Together with OCT manufacturers we have created detailed step-by-step instructions. They are available for you from the Altris AI Knowledge Center. Please go to your Home dashboard, select settings, and then click on Altris AI Knowledge Center. Okay, we are in. Scroll a bit down to Dicom Export and select your type of OCT. Please export horizontal b-scans (without fundus images, only the central sector of the retina, no optic disc). Once your OCT scan is saved on your computer, we can add it to the platform.
Let's go back to our home page. Please click the "Add new patient" button, then tick over here CREATE A NEW PATIENT FROM A DICOM, and select a necessary file on your computer. Click add patient and examination. Perfect! We have added our first patient and uploaded an examination, so the scans are already analyzed by AI and you can take a look at the results. Now you would need to select the appropriate subscription plan according to your needs and you are ready to go!
