Keep in mind that when you make the Cathedral Window with the shortcut, it may be much quicker, and can be done entirely by machine - but there are some differences. The short cut needs batting and backing fabric - the traditional method doesn't. The short cut is no longer "translucent" when held up to a window - the traditional method truly looks like stained glass in a cathedral window when held up to the light!
