My personal profile:

0/0/180 1.00/190/15 1.00/200/20 1.00/210/25 .50/225/30

Bottom heater controller is set at 252 with bottom TC touching the bottom of the board.

Example: Ramp rate/ Temp/ Dwell

Ramp is how many degrees per second. Temp is desired temp maximum for that "step". Dwell is how long it will sit in that "step" before moving onto the next.

My profile is a shortened profile to maximize efficiency.

For first setup you could start with: .0/0/240 50/190/240 .50/200/30 .50/210/30 .50/225/30

Its not a bad idea to add an extra step that goes to 217 before 225

The idea here is to make sure your temp is within 4-5 degrees of your target temp if they are too far off, your ramp or dwell is too fast.
If you heat too fast your top heater will get too aggressive to try and catch up and can blow the GPU..

EVERY MACHINE AND ATMOSPHERE IS DIFFERENT SO A PROFILE IS NOT A "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" KIND OF THING.

My Reflow profile is the same as my Reball profile only instead of lifting the GPU I just end the profile and let it cool.down and re-assemble.

My Re-attach/Leaded profile is the same as my Reball Profile only I stop it at 200 and let it cool..

Generally speaking on my station I will lift the top heater about an inch at the end of a profile, let cool down to 150-160, then swing my top heater away and turn on both the top heater and board cooling fans.

Reworking is an art and everyone has their own style. There is no right or wrong just what works for you.
The less time you have the IC at high temps the less stress you put upon it, However heating to fast can be just as bad. This is about finding a balance of what gives YOU the best results.

As far as bottom heat goes it should be set to whatever get the board preheated to 190-200c Before your top heater even kicks in. You can find the magic number by setting the bottom heat higher and higher until your reading 190-200 on your TOP thermocouple.

Remember We are working on the top of the baord not the bottom. So if You have to set the bottom heater to 245 to reach 190 on top this is what you'll need to do.

If you need help setting up your station call or email me and I will do my best to help.
