I made this tiny mortise chisel

Most mortise chisels are huge chunky pieces of steel associated with carpentry and heavy duty chopping. But sometimes, it is good to have a very small one - for example when making wooden planes.
In fact I needed a narrow but stiff chisel for a different project I was working on. So I took a cutoff of 1095 steel and a piece of ash from the fire wood pile and went for it. Since it is so small but still needs to be able to take some hammer blows, I decided to make a ferrule on both sides of the handle from a length of brass tubing that I had lying around.
In the end I am using the chisel to chop a mortise behind a piece of plexiglass. This demonstration is an imitation of a great video by @Paul.Sellers that you should watch, if you haven't yet.
