Sanjay Dixit raises important constitutional questions and suggests that 'nemo judex in sua causa' must be enforced qua the Supreme Court as an Institution. Decades of permission to the Court on behalf of the political executive and the Parliament has brought the situation to such a pass that the Supreme Court feels free to legislate on every matter. Earlier, it was environmental sector, where the Court set itself up as virtually as an Executive regulator, then it legislated in the private matter of BCCi, and now it is the Electronic Media and Freedom of Speech and Expression. Government and Parliament should not be mute spectators to this overreach.
