A historic and convincing victory  - The people have spoken...and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has slaughtered the People's National Party (PNP) in the 18th parliamentary election.

A preliminary count has the JLP with 48 of the 63 seats, leaving the PNP with 15 seats. Major upsets were created by JLP newcomers who have unseated incumbents in safe seats.
