As Ship 25 and Booster 10 are prepped for their journey back into space, the ground support system undergoes significant refurbishments.
A notable change includes the removal of Shell 2, part of the tank farm consisting of eight vertical service tanks installed in 2021. However, this particular structure has remained inactive for an extended period.
This adjustment is a response to the repercussions of the initial starship orbital flight on the tank farm. Following this, CEO Elon Musk confirmed SpaceX's decision to replace damaged tanks with vacuum-jacketed versions already scheduled for replacement at the pad.

“We're going with more of the vacuum-jacketed kind of giant hot dog looking tanks as opposed to the vacuum jacket, a giant hot dog tank. those are in the best shape and those are what we want anyway so some of the tanks will be uh uh yeah probably removing and replacing with the hot dog tanks."
The replacement process is bound to take some time as SpaceX can't swiftly replace the entire tank farm, needing continuous fuel storage to ensure the launch campaign remains uninterrupted. These water tanks serve as vital components in pressurizing the five vertical and seven horizontal cryo storage tanks.
Given the circumstance, engineers prioritized removing the disused water tank ahead of the active tank, significantly affected during the initial launch. Zack Golden highlighted SpaceX's plan to install the pressurization system in the recently vacated space.
This system is crucial; it channels vaporized nitrogen, oxygen, and methane back into the cryogenic storage tanks, replenishing the fluid while it's swiftly pumped out to prevent the storage tanks from collapsing.
In addition to the tank farm updates, Chopsticks, another vital element, is undergoing a fresh coat of paint. These alterations are positive indicators that Starship Flight 3 is edging closer.
