4M - octobre 2011 - Le Caire / Faggala from books to toilets
Durant une semaine, 12 journalistes égyptiens issus de la presse écrite, de radios et télévisions indépendantes encadrés par 3 journalistes français, ont construit le premier webdocumentaire réalisé par des journalistes égyptiens : « The way from Tahrir »
El-Faggala is one of Cairo's oldest districts. Built in the mid 19th century during the reign of khedive Ismail, the district tucked behind Ramses Street has been the gateway to modern Egypt. With its print houses, bookshops and cinema theatres, El-Faggala was a cultural hub, with a mélange of middle class residence from various nationalities and religions. (Armenians, Greeks, Egyptians, Moslems, Christians, Jews).
By the seventies, El-Faggala gradually turned into the hub for ceramics and bathroom utilities.
