The Charlestown Navy Yard Marine Barracks
The US Marine Corps Barracks in the Charlestown Navy Yard is the oldest standing Marine Corps structure in the nation. Marines guarded the Navy Yard and served aboard ships that came through Charlestown from 1802 until 1974. The barracks itself was constructed by Marines from 1810 to 1811. Today their legacy is maintained and interpreted by the National Park Service.
