ALX Africa Cybersecurity Practical 1 (Level 6)

In this video, I continue the Terminator Practical from ALX Cybersecurity Week 1 and solve Level 6, which introduces compressed files, Linux permissions, and the temporary directory.

This level focuses on understanding how .gz (gzip) files work, why compressed files must be extracted before reading, and what happens when you don’t have write permissions in a directory.

I demonstrate how to safely extract a compressed file by copying it to the /tmp directory, explain why /tmp exists, and show why cleaning up temporary files is an important security habit.

This challenge highlights real Linux and cybersecurity concepts, including file permissions, safe handling of sensitive data, and responsible system usage.
