Etten and Dublon Islands, Truk Lagoon

13th June 2017 - Dive Wellington live aboard trip on the amazing MV Odyssey.

This video and the videos of the Betty Bomber, Emily flying boat, Gosei Maru and Patrol Boat 34 were all taken on a single daytrip from Blue Lagoon Dive Center after our Odyssey liveaboard ended.

BOAT AND SURFACE INTERVAL

0:47 - walk around the village on Dublon Island with bunkers, comms buildings etc, the spot we landed was a seaplane wotsit, nothing more than a wide ramp and tarmac visible now.

04:26 - aerial photo of Etten Island during the attack. Think we landed top left, and walked to the buildings left of the hill.

04:30 - back on the boat to the stunning Etten Island, the largely man-made airport island that looks like an aircraft carrier.

06:09 - coming ashore to a stunning park, quick bite, then a trek to find the airport building ruins

06:31 - bombed to shit, lush jungle has grown up through the smashed concrete and taken over.

What amazes me most about this video is how when I pulled the GoPro out of its foggy housing at the end all you could hear was me puffing lol - thank God I got back on the pushbike and knocked 20kg off so far, cos I sounded like a heart attack :)
