Robert talks about bezeling our Pirate Treasure Pieces of 8, from the Spanish galleon Consolacion that sank in 1681 as she was evading the pirate Bartholomew Sharpe off Ecuador. This is one of only two shipwrecks that can be directly attributed to pirates! Consolacion sank when she hit a reef off of Santa Clara Island, which the locals called El Muerto ("The Dead") , because the silhouette or the island resembled a dead man under a shroud.
