It's 'politically demented' for NSW government to think they could run the cemeteries
Sky News host Alan Jones says, following his previous comments on the matter, there is now talk of a "backdown" from the NSW government's acquisition of the running of the administration of cemeteries in the state.
The remarks come as the government's plan of merging all five Sydney cemetery trusts into one government run Super Trust received backlash by the Catholic Cemeteries Trust and religious communities.
"Full marks for that. But you'd have to be politically demented to think of this rubbish in the first place," Mr Jones said.
"The only acceptable backdown would be for the government to get completely out of the way and get your hands off something that you know nothing about."
