Satellite & Radio Communications In Alaska

Growing up in Alaska, my family didn't have the Internet or cell phones until sometime around high school. We relied heavily on marine radios and radio telephones for communication. When I went back to Southeast Alaska this summer we found phone coverage hasn't really improved in the last 30 years. We used a variety of gadgets to stay in touch, including VHF marine radios and satellite phones. I also tried out some radio and satellite things with my HackRF One Portapack.
