Judy Garland: The Kraft Music Hall September 30, 1948
Judy Garland appearing on, "The Kraft Music Hall," September 30, 1948. Judy and Al Jolson sing a duet of, "Pretty Baby," and Judy does a belting version of, "Johnny One Note." Oscar Levant is also heard on the program. Although they had worked together on his program 10 years earlier, this is the only known recording of "Judy and Jolie." Here they each sing her theme song in between wise cracks by Oscar Levant. Judy was continually likened to Jolson as an entertainer in later years, which resulted in her 1968 quip, "I'm always being compared to Al Jolson, which doesn't help a woman's vainty!" Judy ad-libs her real last name during "Johnny One Note," can you spot it? :)
