Shree Jagannath Dham Temple Digha

The Shree Jagannath Dham temple in Digha, West Bengal, is a recent addition to the city, designed to be a near-replica of the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. Built in the Kalinga style of architecture, it features a grand vimana (tower), four mandaps (halls), and stone idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.

Architectural Design:
The temple is inspired by the 12th-century Jagannath Temple in Puri, showcasing Kalinga-style architecture.
Main Structures:
It includes a Vimana (sanctum sanctorum), Jagamohan (assembly hall), Nat Mandir (dance hall), and Bhog Mandap (offering hall).
Idols:
The temple houses stone idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, which are replicas of the deities in Puri. While the Puri idols are made of neem wood ("Darubrahma"), the Digha idols are stone.
Materials:
The temple is built using Bansi Paharpur sandstone, and its flooring is constructed with marble imported from Vietnam.
Orientation and Design:
The temple is oriented in the eastern direction and is designed with intricate details and craftsmanship, incorporating elements from multiple states.
Entrance:
The main entrance is called Chaitanyadwar, and the temple complex is named "Chaitanyadwar Jagannath Dham".
Rituals:
The temple includes a flag-hoisting ceremony, similar to the Puri temple.
"Maasir Bari":
An older Jagannath Temple in Digha is being developed as the "Maasir Bari" (aunt's house of the Lord), where the raths will conclude their journey during the Rath Yatra festival.
