1- Getting into residency directly is as difficult as Advance Standing(DDS).
2- Ability to practice(Private Practice) in limited states is a major drawback compared to doing DDS then residency.
3- You may or may not qualify to receive stipends.
4- If you are on a student visa, finding good jobs is more challenging as one will need H1B sponsorship.
4- Major benefit of directly going through the residency route is to continue doing what you like, saving money and time if you are okay to settle in one of the limited states.
