Let’s talk about Claude Monet and his century of legacy to artists

Claude Monet's Nymphéas (1914–17) sold last week at Sotheby’s for $65.5 million. There’s also an incredible show of Monet’s London paintings at the Courtauld now on. This all made me think of the Monet x Joan Mitchell show at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, which focused on Monet’s later, more abstract, paintings that were ahead of their time.
