How to Create a KeyStore and API Key for Google Maps in Android Studio 🎯

💡 To create a KeyStore and API Key for Google Maps in Android Studio, first, for release builds, generate a signing KeyStore (a `.jks` file) using Java's `keytool` command. Next, obtain your app's SHA-1 fingerprint; for debug builds, this is available via Gradle tasks, while for release, it's extracted from your KeyStore. Head to the Google Cloud Console, navigate to "APIs & Services" -- "Credentials." Click "Create Credentials" -- "API key." Crucially, restrict this API key by selecting "Android apps" and providing your app's package name and the obtained SHA-1 fingerprint. This links the key specifically to your application. Ensure the "Maps SDK for Android" is enabled under "Library." Finally, embed the generated API key within your `AndroidManifest.xml` inside the `--application--` tag as a `--meta-data--` element, or more securely, reference it from your `local.properties` file. This allows your Android app to securely access Google Maps services.
