Why I've been lambing alone: Vlog 201

Many of you wonder why I do this job of lambing solo. Why don't I hire someone, and the biggest question of all...
WHY DOESN'T MARK HELP?

Here's the thing.
The sheep is my thing... much like the crops are Mark's. Yes, we both help each other when we need it. But it may not be in the way you think it should be. It may look like picking up groceries, or cooking supper.

Mark is still really busy.
He's been helping a good friend get his corn dryer working while they are struggling to still harvest their corn... A friend who's wife also just had a baby! So this is our way of helping them out.

During lambing, I have a system. I know which lamb, which mom is doing what, who to check and re-check... who needs a bottle, who needs recorded...
Everyday changes so drastically, that it is hard to step out and expect someone to step in. It takes training and time to do it well. So for now, I power through and do it myself (right or wrong, I am a control freak.)

Yes, I help Mark. But you don't see him working through the night getting caught up on fieldwork that gets pushed off, or babysitting a corn drier while I'm snug in my bed.
There are many jobs we do together, but on our farm, we have jobs we just prefer to do solo.
