Should Executor Accept Compensation?

Every last will and testament has an executor. The executor's responsibilities can be daunting: deal with all of the frozen financial accounts and creditors of the deceased; handle all of the inquiries from heirs and interested parties; work closely with the attorney to make sure all court pleadings are accurate and timely; and generally oversee all aspects of the estate settlement process.

I most estate settlements involving probate, a question arises whether the executor will accept or waive the compensation that an executor is entitled to. Statutory compensation can and does vary from state to state.

Some executors waive the compensation to which they are entitled. Other willingly accept that compensation.
