DONT RACE the HOUSE 🤣 Sailing Dominica - The Nature Island | Four Sheets to The Wind Ep. 46

Having heard stories of hot springs and waterfalls tucked away in the lush forests of Dominica. We grabbed a mooring ball and immediately set off to explore the national parks that fill the interior of this natural island. Our first stop – Trafalgar Falls.

We were told you can not leave this island without stopping in Wotten Waven – A peaceful little village nestled amongst the heat of the natural springs. It was incredible, and a highlight of our stay. Tucked high up in the hills we found the most incredible natural spa tucked into the trees - Ti Kwen. A series of pools of various temperatures capturing the natural hot springs.

The one benefit of an extremely rolly anchorage is it give you an excuse to get off the boat Next stop – Boiling Lake. A vigorous challenging hike that spits you out at an insane boiling lake. 1000m above sea level the gasses from this sulphureous lake decimate the surrounding foliage giving the area the name Desolation Valley. A stark and wild contrast to the otherwise lush vegetation that covers the rest of the island.

Have I mentioned yet this anchorage is brutally rolly!?! Holy moly – like I said it’s a good excuse to get off the boat. Its Carnival time and we absolutely could not leave without experiencing a little bit of the insane energy of Carnival in the Caribbean.
