Western Gospel Music - Thunderstorms & Music of the Wild West ● 80 minutesEnnio Morricone began his career as a trumpet player in jazz bands in the 1940s, but always had his eye on composing (he wrote his first compositions at age six :-) He has composed over 500 scores for cinema and television and is considered by many the greatest film composer of all time. Not winning an Oscar for "The Mission" is considered a great injustice in Academy history. A 2012 Variety magazine poll of 40 working film composers, including Oscar-winner Michael Giacchino (“Up”) to Coen Brothers favorite Carter Burwell to Cliff Martinez (“Drive”), named "The Mission" the top film score of all time and "Once Upon a Time in the West" #6.

Luis Bacalov (1933-2017), Argentine-born Italian composer of Bulgarian descent, composed film scores for Spaghetti Westerns in the early days of his career. His music is a favorite of Quentin Tarantino, using five of Bacalov's compositions in his films "Kill Bill" and "Django Unchained". He won an Oscar in 1996 for "Il Postino". Thank you, Mr. Bacalov, for many hours of joy. You will be missed.
