After breaking up with Sarah I swore off dating. My routine was work and home and that was just fine by me. My friend, Ryan, however didn’t think that I should let one bad apple spoil the entire bunch.

“Hey, Dwayne, it’s time to get back in the game,” Ryan said as we were sitting at my apartment watching a basketball game.

“I’m good. Being single isn’t that bad,” I said knowing fully well that Ryan wasn’t going to drop the topic.

“It’s been six months bro. You can’t let Sarah win. You are a great guy,” Ryan said.

“What do you have in mind, Ryan,” I asked, looking over at him with a raised eyebrow.

Ryan went on to tell me about this dating site that he was on called Single2Mingle. He said that he found his current girlfriend on this site and it really worked. I was very skeptical but Ryan convinced me to try it out. I gave him my phone and let him create an account for me.

I actually didn’t think about the site until I heard a notification sound on my phone a few days later from the Single2Mingle app. I opened up the app and realized I got a message from a woman named Audrey.

The message read: “Hi Dwayne, how are you?”

I clicked on her profile however it did not have much information other than her name and a few pictures.

“Well,” I said as I checked through her pictures, “she is easy on the eyes. I don’t have anything else to do so I might as well answer.”

I responded to the message and before I knew it we were discussing the movies we enjoyed, the places we visited and the fact that our friends encouraged us to try out the dating site. I found myself wanting to reach home to chat with Audrey on a daily basis after that night. She was so easy to talk to, I couldn’t wait to ask her out.
After two weeks of chatting online I asked Audrey on a date. Since we both drove she told me that she would meet me at the restaurant. I must admit that I was sweating bullets when I got to the restaurant but my nerves calmed down once we began to chat and swap stories. After dinner we walked to the cinema that was two blocks away to see “The Haunted Arena”. Imagine finding a woman who enjoys horror movies as much as I do!
