Played hero often but still too quiet!?: Prof. Dr. Gunter Dueck at TEDxKoeln
As Lichtenberg says: "It is virtually impossible to carry the torch of truth through a crowd, without singing someone's beard."
What is the point of destructing truth if it's supposed to be enlightening instead? Don't I have to be worried about my own beard or skin even? Do I have to arm myself for the truth and play with fire? Am I going to be dismissed as an omega-animal? Or shall I disarm the others as kids and fools would do?
Prof. Dr. Gunter Dueck at TEDxKoeln: The talk of a once very shy hero, who at some point felt responsible to change something -- as an innovator and philosopher.
After a career as professor of mathematics Gunter Dueck changed to IBM in 1987, where he was responsible for the creation of new business lines (Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing) and for Cultural Change.
He was titled "Master Inventor of IBM" for three years. At the end of his IBM career, he was CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of IBM Germany and IBM Distinguished Engineer.
Since 2011 the committed freethinker works as author, business-angel and speaker. Gunter Dueck is IEEE Fellow and corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. The German computer magazine "Computerwoche" called him one of the top 100 influential personalities of the German IT/communication business. He belongs to the "NEXT 100 Top Influencers of the Digital Industry in 2013".
Dueck is author of many bestsellers.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
