We Saved This BMW M3 From Engine Failure...Just In Time!

The #Copart #E46 #M3 continues to surprise us with issues. This 2006 BMW M3 with the S54 Engine is getting a full maintenance makeover /rebuild/upgrade and in today's video we discover broken cam bolts. This is a common issue with some of the intake cam bolts backing out and shearing. This particular engine only had one bolt holding the cam in time, which was starting to back out as well. Luckily we caught it in time and replaced all of the intake and exhaust cam bolts with the updated bolts. The actual cause of the bolts shearing is due to them getting loose. Once a bolt comes loose it will start to shear and eventually lead to other bolts shearing as well. The new upgraded bolts are installed with thread lock to prevent them from backing out and shearing.
