‘The ABC knows its complaints regime is not fit for purpose’: Former communications minister
Former communications minister Richard Alston says the ABC knows its complaints regime is “not fit for purpose”.
It comes as ABC Chair Ita Buttrose has accused the Coalition of “political interference” over the decision to have a
Senate Communications Committee inquiry into the complaints process at the ABC.
“Few weeks ago, they (the ABC) set up a very quick and hasty inquiry because they know that there’s a lot wrong with it (the complaints process),” Mr Alston told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“They’re desperate to keep it in-house, this is a classic conflict of interest.”
