La Ronge Arts Council presents its first in a 2021 three-part series called 'Learn2Dance' (Learn to Dance), where cultural and regional dances are taught by talented local dancers.
This is a Pandemic Program, meaning we encourage all who watch to practice along safely from their own home (!).
In this first video, Modeste Mckenzie (He/Him, 26) explains the history and significance of the Red River Jig for Metis people; he then shows us five basic and a few 'fancy steps' prior to a freestyle Performance -- watch along and look for the moves you've learned !!
The music used is a live track (Whiskey Medley) performed by a personal friend (Brendan Chartrand) to the dancer, and was licensed with his gracious permission.
