Buying a Mushroom & Truffle Oil Sourdough Pizza made by 21 Year Old Chef Henry Hampshire at VegFest

A great honour to finally meet and get a pizza from 21 years old Vegan Chef Henry Hampshire (at the recent VegFest event that took place in Olympia, London).

On the day of my visit I had the "Funghi Alla Truffle" a Hand Stretched Sourdough Pizza made with the following toppings:
* Homemade Tomato Sauce
* Vegan Mozzarella Cheese
* Garlic Mushrooms
* Fresh Basil Leaves
* A drizzle of Truffle Oil

The other pizzas on their menu were:
CLASSIC MARGARITA:
* Tomato Sauce
* Vegan Mozarella Cheese
* Fresh Basil

"VEGAN PEPPERONI" & SPICY HONEY:
* Vegan Pepperoni (made by "Wicked Seitan")
* Drizzled with Chilli Syrup

The pizza sour dough is rolled & hand stretched in Semolina flour which give the cooked pizza a sublimely crunchy crust.

They were also serving up "Gourmet" Pasta.

"THE PASTA GARDEN" GOURMET PASTA MENU:
PESTO PASTA:
* Italian Pasta with a Basil & Almond Pesto

CREAMY MUSHROOM GNOCCHI:
* Potato Gnocchi with a Creamy Vegan White Sauce and Garlic Mushrooms

TOMATO & BASIL PASTA:
* Italian Pasta with a rich Tomato & Basil Sauce

The dough was quickly and skilfully hand spun and stretched and then the pizza was cooked in the electric powered oven. The pizza cooked very quickly (within a couple of minutes) because the pizza oven reaches a very high operating temperature (approx 350 degrees centigrade).

Henry Hampshire started his career when he was 16 and worked in a bakery whilst studying for his A-levels before he then became a chef in London's first vegan pasta restaurant. Within 3 months as a commis chef, Henry had worked his way up the ranks to sous chef before going on to become Head Chef at the age of 18.

Henry studied under Chef Day Radley who is the founder of The Vegan Chef School of Excellence.

With Henry's extra training, he became Restaurant Manager of Raveoli - London's first Vegan Pasta Restaurant within a year of working there and still being just 18.

Henry started his own vegan street food company in June 2021 selling gourmet vegan pasta boxes in markets across Surrey, London and surrounding areas before going on to buy The Garden Wagon where he took The Pasta Garden across the country and even to Reading Festival 2022 serving over 2000 pasta boxes in 3 days.

Now Chef Hampshire runs his own delivery restaurant in Aldgate, London running 5 street food brands on Deliveroo, Uber Eats & Just Eat serving to the vegan masses in Central London whilst still catering for large events, festivals & weddings!
