How to Sew a Knee-Rise Contour Cushion with Fabric Backing

Learn how to sew a hi-lo knee-riser contoured cushion that has a fabric back side. It is not stapled to a backer board. This type of contoured cushion has two separate pieces of foam. In the front of the cushion is a thicker foam called a knee riser or bolster. In the back of the cushion is a low foam that forms the seat of the cushion. In between these two sections of foam, inside the cushion cover, is a fabric pull with a zippered opening that is sewn to the top and bottom plates. The fabric pull accomplishes two things: It keeps the foam in the appropriate location and it pulls the cushion fabric down snuggly between the hi-low foam, giving it a contoured and professional look.
