K2: Nepali climbers receive hero's welcome in Pakistan | पाकिस्तान मा भब्य स्वागत

Nepali climbers got a warm welcome and reception by the government of Pakistan and its people.

10 Nepali climbers made history on Jan 16th, 2021 by becoming the first ever to reach the summit of K2 (8,611m) in winter.

Prime Minister, Imran Khan wrote on his facebook
"Nepali Sherpas have broken the previous record during winters of climbing as high as 26,000 feet while attempting to scale K2.
Never before has the K2 base camp been so crowded by climbers from Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Bulgaria and a dozen countries during the winters. The maximum height achieved by teams in winters in the past was 25,320 feet.
The 8,611 metre-high K2 is the only peak that has never been conquered in the winter, and has become one of the biggest challenges for veteran climbers."

K2 is the second highest mountain, and the deadliest mountain in the world.

Nepal is also preparing to welcome the climbers when they return on Jan 26th at around 8 AM.

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) on their facebook have written "We would like to invite you to the felicitation of the First Winter Mt K2 Summiteers of the world, tomorrow (26th January, 2021, Tuesday 7:45 am) at Tribhuwan International Airport."
