Liner Note Legends #1: Bernie Worrell [HD]

For the first episode of Liner Note Legends, the great keyboardist Bernie Worrell walks us through his storied career. Best known for his work as a founding member and musical director of Parliament-Funkadelic and later as a member of Talking Heads, Bernie's career has ignored all musical boundaries. A child prodigy born with perfect pitch, Bernie learned to used his gifts not only as a dynamic performer and improviser but also as an in-studio producer and arranger. His performances with P-Funk not only helped define their psychedelic R&B sound, but later shaped the sound of West Coast Hip-Hop via the production work of Dr. Dre and records by N.W.A., Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube.

His list of performing and recording credits includes: Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads, The Rolling Stones, Fela Kuti, Yoko Ono, Jack Bruce, Maceo Parker, Tony Williams, Bill Laswell, The Pretenders, Keith Richards, Tom Tom Club, Gil-Scott Heron, Sly & Robbie, Ginger Baker, Les Claypool, Mike Watt, Yasin Bey, Prince Paul, and many more.

His own Bernie Worrell Orchestra can often be seen playing in the US and internationally - visit the site below for tour dates.
