*Hickory Wood:
Very hard, stiff, dense and shock resistant.
*Slip Fit Eye Handle Head:
Advantages, easy to remove the head from the handle in cases of breakage. For use of the head on its own or for field-expedient hafting, rehafting, or use of multiple handle lengths for the same head. Quick interchange of other Head types is another advantage.
*Wedge Eye Handle Head:
Advantages, allows handle to have just about any shape you want including having a large flare to the butt, however difficult to clear the eye out when rehafting but less woodworking needed to at least get a rudimentary handle back on it.
