The beautiful Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata 1st movement at St Pancras

I recorded this the same day @DrKBoogieWoogie invited me to jam on classical x boogie woogie at the famous public piano in St Pancras railway station, London :)

Part of me wants to say “this is as far away from boogie woogie as one can get!”, these haunting, elegiac melodies that always cast me and the listeners around me into some sort of hypnotic spell every time I play it.

But a new part of me that’s growing wonders, “maybe that’s exactly what needs to happen!” Like a good ol’ philosophy mental experiment that I used to have to practice at school, I ask myself, “what WOULD a boogie-woogie Moonlight Sonata 1st movement sound like?…”

Until we get to answer that question, my friends, sit back, relax, and enjoy a moment of Sunday autumn mindful hedonism with these eternally beautiful harmonies that never fail to bring me to another place - like time stops for a moment, all the hustle and bustle around you suddenly fades out and ceases to matter, and all that matters is the music and where Beethoven is transporting us to - and how that makes our hearts and souls feel, when we let our chattering minds quieten down and surrender.
