Beyond a politics of nostalgia: Yuval Levin on moving the country forward | LIVE STREAM

Is America nostalgic for a better time? People are frustrated, economically insecure, and living in a country increasingly wrought by polarization and infighting. The left looks back to a time when unions and public programs were stronger, and the right looks to the Reagan era of tax cuts and deregulation. Each side believes a return to its respective “golden age” would solve the country’s problems.

In his new book, “The Fractured Republic: Renewing America’s Social Contract in the Age of Individualism” (Basic Books, 2016), Yuval Levin suggests that nostalgia is unhelpful in progressing forward. We live in rapidly changing times, and he argues that any solution must be informed by the current context.

Join Dr. Levin and Michael Strain for a discussion on “The Fractured Republic,” followed by a wine and cheese reception.
