The VENGEFUL Execution Of Alfred Jodl - Hitler's Surrendering General

During the Second World War, the Germans sought to build a huge empire. Hitler dreamed of a huge Third Reich, an empire that spanned a huge amount of territory, and he invaded countries with his army with immense power, and fighting the German Army was some of the more brutal fighting in history. Hitler invaded and took France, Poland, large amounts of the Balkans and even tried to take parts of the Soviet Union. However it was after the war that the true crimes of the Nazis were revealed. At the Nuremberg Trials, a number of Hitler's generals and his remaining inner circle were brought to trial for war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

One of these defendants was Alfred Jodl, who was the second most senior military general in the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, the Nazi Armed Forces High Command. He oversaw a number of the invasion of other countries, and was also involved in planning operations and battles. He was close with Hitler and valued as a military general, and he helped lead a number of German invasions including Norway and Denmark. However he was also complicit in signing two illegal orders. Jodl signed the Commando and Commissar Orders, execution notices to kill any Allied Commando or Soviet Commissar without any question asked. This was illegal, and Jodl signing this made him a war criminal. He was also guilty in overseeing other atrocities, but it was Jodl who signed the German Surrender of World War 2, on behalf of Grand Admiral Karl Donitz, the President of Germany.

At Nuremberg, Jodl's crimes emerged and he was guilty of all four charges brought before him and was sentenced to death. It was infamous and notorious executioner John C Woods who took the life of Alfred Jodl, the Surrendering German General.
